Softball Recap: Raleigh Comes Up Short

After flying high against West Lincoln last Friday, Raleigh came back down to earth. The Lions took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears on Monday. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 11-5.

Raleigh saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was SC McAllister, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Raleigh has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-17-1 record this season. As for West Lincoln, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15.

Raleigh and West Lincoln are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Lions will square off against Bogue Chitto at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Raleigh is facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for West Lincoln, they will take on Pisgah at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
