Baseball Game Preview: Hoover Vikings vs. Green Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Hoover will face off against Green. The Vikings will take on the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hoover's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Green's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hoover is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since April 9th on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Green 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jack Andes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Hoover is 8-1 when Andes posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Ryan Wilkinson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Hoover is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Green, they dropped their record down to 9-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
