Football Recap: Clearfield Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Clearfield had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Cyprus Pirates by a score of 9-6 on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Despite the loss, Clearfield had strong showings from Landon Hittle, who picked up 69 receiving yards and one TD, and Brik Barlow, who threw for 139 yards and one touchdown.

Even if they lost, Clearfield's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. Ethan Robins was especially locked on to Cyprus' QB and sacked him twice. Dax Johnson was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making six total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clearfield will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Kearns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cyprus, they will welcome Wasatch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
