Baseball Game Preview: Hodgson Vo-Tech Eagles vs. Red Lion Christian Academy Lions

The Hodgson Vo-Tech Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Red Lion Christian Academy Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hodgson Vo-Tech had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Glasgow on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Dragons. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Red Lion Christian Academy faced Archmere Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Lions walked away with an 8-4 win over the Auks.

Jude Collins was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Caleb Sutton, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Red Lion Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.

Hodgson Vo-Tech pushed their record up to 6-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Red Lion Christian Academy, their record now sits at 11-2.

Hodgson Vo-Tech might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Red Lion Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
