Recap: Cotulla Cowboys vs. Lytle Pirates
The Cotulla Cowboys suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by Lytle on the road and fell 67-28. Cotulla has not had much luck with Lytle recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Lytle got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Calyssa Sevier out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 25 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sevier has scored at least a third of Lytle's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katara Whitfield, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Cotulla has been struggling recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season. As for Lytle, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 23-7.
Cotulla will be playing in front of their home fans against Natalia at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Natalia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 44 on Friday. As for Lytle, they will head out on the road to square off against Dilley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dilley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 11 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
