Softball Recap: Center Grove Sets Scoring Season-High Against Edinburgh

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Center Grove). They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Edinburgh Lancers on Friday. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Addy Reed tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Mae Munson was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Erica Burris also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Center Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edinburgh only posted an OBP of .176.

Center Grove's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Edinburgh, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Center Grove will venture away from home to take on Tri-West Hendricks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Edinburgh, they will head out to face off against Waldron at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
