Basketball Recap: West Vigo Falls Despite Big Games from Lily Ramirez and Lydia Jones

West Vigo was the 43-37 winner over North Vermillion when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The West Vigo Vikings took a 44-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Vermillion Falcons.

West Vigo's loss on Thursday came despite strong showings from Lydia Jones and Lily Ramirez. Jones posted 13 points and six boards, while Ramirez went 5 for 11 en route to 11 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Ramirez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

North Vermillion's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nora Thomann, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Dunham, who put up 16 points.

West Vigo has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for North Vermillion, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

West Vigo has already played their next match, a 42-36 win against Eastern Greene on the 4th. As for North Vermillion, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-32 loss against Lafayette Central Catholic on the 5th.
