Basketball Recap: Cleveland Panthers vs. Locust Fork Hornets
Cleveland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 64-26 loss at the hands of the Locust Fork Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Hornets are ranked 123rd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Locust Fork to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cortlyn Williamson, who posted seven points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds. What's more, Williamson also racked up six steals, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Haley Dutton, who went 8 for 13 en route to 19 points.
Cleveland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Locust Fork, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Cleveland Panthers take on the Brindlee Mountain Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Locust Fork, they will head out on the road to take on Mortimer Jordan at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
