Volleyball Game Preview: Pioneer Diamondbacks vs. McAllen Bulldogs

The Pioneer Diamondbacks will face off against the McAllen Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pioneer is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

While Pioneer's win against McAllen Memorial wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Diamondbacks had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Diamondbacks have posted against the Mustangs since October 26, 2021.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (107-101) Pioneer actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 27-29, 25-23, 9-25, 25-20, 15-10.

Meanwhile, McAllen made easy work of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win.

The final score came out to 25-10, 25-19, 25-15.

McAllen found their leader in sophomore Gabriella Saenz, who had nine digs and six assists.

Pioneer's victory bumped their record up to 29-4. As for McAllen, their win bumped their record up to 23-13.

Pioneer skirted past McAllen 3-2 when the teams last played back in September. Do the Diamondbacks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
