Softball Recap: Kettle Falls Gets the Win

Kettle Falls let Reardan stack five runs on them in the seventh inning on Saturday but luckily Kettle Falls prevailed anyway. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Screaming Eagles 9-8. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by just one run.

Brooklyn Wilkin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brya Fay and Audrey Morales did most of the damage at the plate: Fay got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Morales went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Heira Palumbo was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Kettle Falls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.

Kettle Falls has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-14-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Reardan, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12-1.

Looking ahead, Kettle Falls will face off against Northwest Christian School at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Reardan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
