Basketball Recap: Alamo Heights Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Alamo Heights had lost three straight headed into Tuesday's match, but Berkley Hart didn't let it get to four. The Alamo Heights Mules walked away with a 48-35 victory over the Smithson Valley Rangers on Tuesday thanks in part to Hart, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Alamo Heights' points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Hawkins, who posted ten points and six boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Several Rangers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cyanna Cavazos, who earned nine points in addition to six steals and five assists. Cavazos is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabelle DiMery, who had eight points.

Alamo Heights' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-15. As for Smithson Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season.

Alamo Heights didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-52 victory against Boerne-Champion on the 17th. Smithson Valley has also already played their next match, a 60-36 defeat against Boerne on the 17th.
