Football Game Preview: Farwell Steers vs. Friona Chieftans + How To Watch

The Farwell Steers will square off against the Friona Chieftans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Friona took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Farwell, who comes in off a win.

Farwell took a 53-point defeat the last time they faced off against Post, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Steers made off with a 25-24 win over the Antelopes.

Farwell found their leader in sophomore Coy Miller, who threw for 275 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 58 yards and a pair of scores. The Steers' leading receiver Andrae Pullen was Miller's top target yet again, picking up 111 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Friona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 34-21 to Abernathy.

Farwell will have to contain Iram Gonzalez as he made an impact in Friona's last game. He rushed for 89 yards and a pair of scores.

Farwell's victory bumped their record up to 3-1-1. As for Friona, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Farwell took their win against Friona when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 39-13 score. In that matchup, the Steers amassed a halftime lead of 27-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
