Baseball Recap: Mason Murrell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Monte Vista over Livermore

Monte Vista fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Livermore on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to the Cowboys, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Mustangs' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Gavin McMillan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.

At the plate, Monte Vista saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Murrell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Monte Vista's record is now 3-16. As for Livermore, their record now sits at 12-7.

Monte Vista didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against Dougherty Valley on the 30th. As for Livermore, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 18-4 defeat against De La Salle on the 29th.
