Basketball Game Preview: Neah Bay Red Devils vs. Taholah Chitwhins

Neah Bay is a perfect 10-0 against Taholah since December of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Neah Bay Red Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Taholah Chitwhins at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Neah Bay is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Clallam Bay: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Neah Bay blew Clallam Bay out of the water with a 57-7 final score. Winning may never get old, but the Red Devils sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

It was another big night for Angel Halttunen, who went 6 for 11 en route to 15 points. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna McGimpsey, who posted six points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

Neah Bay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, everything went Taholah's way against Mary M. Knight on Friday as Taholah made off with a 71-46 win.

Taholah has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points over those games. As for Neah Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 17-1.

Everything came up roses for Neah Bay against Taholah in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 66-35 win. In that contest, Neah Bay amassed a halftime lead of 37-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
