League recap: Solon tops Anamosa to extend winning streak

Solon extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 6 this week by beating Anamosa, 56-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Solon suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 56-0 loss to Solon. Kevin Miller's team had been ranked 25th, but fell to 33 following the defeat.

The Raiders' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Connyr Lewis threw for 158 yards and Josh Schulte had 113 yards receiving. On the ground Dylon Kula chipped in 27 yards. Austin Holub helped Anamosa's passing attack out by catching one ball for 45 yards.

Anamosa's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Raiders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Lewis has thrown for 851 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Schulte has 34 catches for 388 yards. Zach Neunaber leads the league in rushing with 84 yards.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Marion takes on the Spartans. The Indians have allowed 66 points this season, while Solon has given up 69. Marion allowed 0 points last week as it defeated Benton.

Tony Perkins's team took down the Bobcats 63-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
