Basketball Game Preview: Palisades Pumas vs. Kings Mountain Mountaineers

The Palisades Pumas will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Kings Mountain Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Palisades is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season.

Palisades is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 27th on Saturday. They came up short against Ashbrook, falling 68-45.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jayen Reeves, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Harris, who posted ten points and three steals.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Kings Mountain's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 66-59 to Gaston Day.

Palisades will have to contain J'Myun Huskey as he made an impact in Kings Mountain's last game. He dropped a double-double on 17 points and 18 rebounds. With that strong performance, Huskey is now averaging an impressive 8.8 boards per game. Kee'Donn Linney was another key player, putting up 13 points and five rebounds.

Palisades has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Kings Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Palisades came up short against Kings Mountain in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 69-61. Can Palisades avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
