Baseball Recap: Northeastern Comes Up Short

Northeastern extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 4-11. They came up short against the Pasquotank County Panthers, falling 13-7. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Owen Collins made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Shreaves, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

As for Pasquotank County, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Pasquotank County's side, Landon Dodson and Connor Beech made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Dodson struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Beech pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Dodson went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Beech got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Dodson also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Rice, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Nathan Raynor was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base.

While Northeastern had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
