Recap: Louise Hornets vs. Schulenburg Shorthorns

The Louise Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They lost to Schulenburg at home by a decisive 43-24 margin. Louise was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Schulenburg apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Louise still got an impressive performance from Kirsten Ochoa, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Ochoa hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Louise struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Schulenburg posted 11 assists.

Schulenburg's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Schramek, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals. Alana Herzik was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.

Louise dropped their record down to 8-18 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Schulenburg, their victory bumped their record up to 6-23.

Coincidentally, Louise and Schulenburg will both be playing Ganado the next time they take the court. Schulenburg will head out to face Ganado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Louise will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
