Basketball Recap: Amaree Burries' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jacksonville over Sacred Heart-Griffin

Jacksonville lost against Sacred Heart-Griffin back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Jacksonville Crimsons lost to the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones on the road by a 73-58 margin. While losing is never fun, the Crimsons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Cyclones are ranked 126th).

Jacksonville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Amaree Burries, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. The contest was Burries' third in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was LaMarion Williams, who went 5 for 7 en route to 15 points.

Jacksonville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-11.

Jacksonville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-61 loss against Mt. Zion on the 8th. As for Sacred Heart-Griffin, they will face off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
