Baseball Recap: Capistrano Valley Comes Up Short

Capistrano Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against El Toro on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 2-1. The Cougars' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Spencer Korzep was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Capistrano Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reed Hitzler, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Capistrano Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12-1. As for El Toro, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-9.

While Capistrano Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
