Basketball Recap: Wells Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Wells has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 28 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell to the Manley Wildcats 58-52. The defeat continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Wells saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ashanti Clark posted 28 points. That was a full 53.8% of Wells' points, marking the 13th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Marshall, who put up ten points.

Jaklaya Hunter was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 52 points and nine rebounds for Manley. Hunter's evening made it 17 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Kiavanae Kelly was another key player, putting up four points along with seven assists and four steals.

Wells' defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3. As for Manley, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

As of now, neither Wells nor Manley have any future games scheduled.
