Baseball Recap: Irvine Extends Winning Streak to Three

Irvine waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Woodbridge Warriors by a score of 6-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 on Tuesday.

Roshan Patel and Jack Dressendorfer were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Patel pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Meanwhile, Dressendorfer tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Irvine is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. At bat, Patel went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Dressendorfer went 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Riedel, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nico Macalino, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Irvine now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Woodbridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Coming up, Irvine will challenge San Dimas at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Woodbridge, they will face off against Linfield Christian at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday.
