Soccer Game Preview: Mater Dei vs. Servite

The Mater Dei Monarchs will challenge the Servite Friars at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Mater Dei is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Mater Dei is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 6-1 margin over Santa Margarita on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Monarchs, who have now won five games by four goals or more so far this season.

They hit Santa Margarita with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ayden Romo (4), Kalani Kunimura, and Santiago Schelotto.

Despite a strong season so far, Servite has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They lost 4-1 to JSerra Catholic on Friday. The contest was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Friars struggled afterwards.

Servite's loss dropped their record down to 6-2-3. As for Mater Dei, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.

Mater Dei skirted past Servite 2-1 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mater Dei since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
