The JW North Huskies are taking a road trip to take on the Heritage Patriots at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. JW North is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
JW North was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Hillcrest 11-10.
Audrina Camacho was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Angelina Martinez, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: JW North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Heritage came up short against Arlington on Friday and fell 14-9. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Natalia York made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two triples and two runs. Those triples marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Martens, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
JW North is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.
Heritage's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: JW North has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Heritage, though, as they've been averaging 11.4 hits. Given JW North's sizable advantage in that area, the Patriots will need to find a way to close that gap.
JW North skirted past Heritage 11-9 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
