Marist extended their winning streak to seven on Friday, bumping their season record up to 11-2 in the process. They blew past the Cottage Grove Lions 14-4. Considering the Spartans have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

As for Cottage Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11-1 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

For Cottage Grove's part, Tyson Seaman was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run. Nolan Spear also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Marist will take on rival North Bend at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 3.1, the Bulldogs 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Cottage Grove is set to challenge their familiar foe Junction City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
