Baseball Recap: Avon Park Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Avon Park can now relate to. They fell 8-4 to the McKeel Academy Wildcats on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly four runs.

Jonathan Regino made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Harrison, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Avon Park's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 19-9. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely McKeel Academy, they, and Bishop Verot. As for the Wildcats, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Avon Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for McKeel Academy, they will face off against Bishop Verot at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
