Basketball Recap: Ridgeland Comes Up Short

Ridgeland played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 86-45 defeat at the hands of the Denmark-Olar Vikings. While losing is never fun, Ridgeland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while Denmark-Olar is ranked 113th).

Despite the loss, Ridgeland still got an impressive performance from Jabien Harris, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Semaj Hicks, who scored ten points.

Joshua Goodman was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 15 boards for Denmark-Olar. Another player making a difference was Tykeem Ross, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.

Ridgeland's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Denmark-Olar, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgeland won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Royal Live Oaks Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ridgeland is facing Royal Live Oaks Academy at the right time seeing as Royal Live Oaks Academy is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Denmark-Olar, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Allendale-Fairfax at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Denmark-Olar will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
