Softball Recap: Marionville Comes Up Short

After flying high against Verona last Friday, Marionville came back down to earth. The Comets fell just short of the East Newton Patriots by a score of 4-3 on Monday. The Comets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Annaliyah Ghan and Maggie Murphy stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ghan went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Murphy scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Marionville's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for East Newton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Coming up, Marionville will host Ash Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Newton, they will head out to challenge Mt. Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mountaineers have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
