Softball Game Preview: Independence Knights vs. Heritage Coyotes

The Independence Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Heritage Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Independence, who comes in off a win.

Independence took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Centennial get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won five in a row.

Independence's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Megan McCADDEN, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. McCADDEN has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Katy TOWNE also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Emerson, falling 16-1.

Independence's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Independence skirted past Heritage 15-14 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will Independence repeat their success, or does Heritage have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
