Soccer Game Preview: Coral Gables vs. Mater Academy Charter

The Coral Gables Cavaliers will head out on the road to take on the Mater Academy Charter Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Coral Gables beat Homestead 3-1. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Coral Gables' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Homestead are ranked 466th).

Gabriel Carrizo and Aliksandros Adams scored all three of Coral Gables' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Varela kept up with Mater Academy Charter until halftime on Monday, but afterwards: not so much. The Lions blew past the Vipers 3-0. The result was nothing new for Mater Academy Charter, who have now won six matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Mater Academy Charter has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those four matches. As for Coral Gables, their record is now 5-3-3.
