Alton is 9-1 against Granite City since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Redbirds will be playing at home against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Alton has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Alton is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 12-2 to Belleville West.

Alton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Terrell, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Granite City had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They never let Cahokia get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Wednesday.

Emilee Saggio made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Saggio was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Rachel Willaredt was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Riley Carnahan was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Granite City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .828. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Granite City's win bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Alton, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-18.
