Baseball Game Preview: A.J. Ellender Patriots vs. St. James Wildcats

A.J. Ellender is 1-6 against St. James since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. A.J. Ellender has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

A.J. Ellender is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Houma Christian, falling 14-4.

A.J. Ellender saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kadyn Guidry, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Kavin Robinson was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when St. James took on Donaldsonville on Tuesday. The Wildcats beat the Tigers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-1. Considering the Wildcats have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

St. James has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for A.J. Ellender, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-21.
