Basketball Recap: Montello Comes Up Short

Montello and Living Word Lutheran squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Montello had to settle for second. They were dealt a 73-44 defeat at the hands of the Living Word Lutheran Timberwolves. While losing is never fun, the Hilltoppers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 464th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 201st).

Living Word Lutheran was led to victory by Delaney Winkelmann and Kaleah Alles. Winkelmann en route to 26 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, while Alles on her way to 25 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. The contest was Alles' ninth in a row with at least 15 points. Makenna Bynum was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Montello is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18. As for Living Word Lutheran, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-8.

Montello does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Living Word Lutheran, they will head out on the road to square off against Westfield Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
