Softball Recap: North Marion Drops Highest Score of Season Against Meadowbrook Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Marion). Everything went their way against the Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-4 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Colts needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Hayden Erickson looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, North Marion let Alyssa Minchew and Lili Bedford run wild. Minchew went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Bedford went 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most RBI Bedford has posted since back in April of 2024. Olivia Pierce was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

North Marion hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in three consecutive matches.

North Marion's victory bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Meadowbrook Academy, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Marion will host Lake Weir at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Colts are facing the Hurricanes at the right time seeing as the Hurricanes are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Meadowbrook Academy, they will square off against City of Life Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
