Basketball Recap: Montgomery Central Timberwolves vs. North Davidson Black Knights
Montgomery Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 26th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 79-41 loss at the hands of the North Davidson Black Knights. The Timberwolves were not able to make up for their defeat to the Black Knights from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.
Several Timberwolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christopher Curtis, who went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 34.1% of Montgomery Central's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Trey Myrick, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Drew Hege was his usual excellent self, going 9 of 10 on his way to 19 points for North Davidson. The dominant performance gave Hege a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Dalton, who put up 14 points.
Montgomery Central's record now sits at 0-13. As for North Davidson, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-5.
Montgomery Central will venture away from home to challenge Ledford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North Davidson, they will challenge Oak Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oak Grove knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully North Davidson likes a good challenge.
