Volleyball Recap: Rachel Mcclellan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Glendale over West Branch + How To Watch

Glendale came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the West Branch Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Glendale was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-22, 25-8.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rachel McClellan, who had 11 digs, ten kills, and two blocks. McClellan is crushing it when it comes to kills: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Taya Mazenko, who had 19 digs and one block.

Glendale's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for West Branch, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glendale will face off against DuBois Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Branch, they will welcome Mount Union at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
