Preview: Bishop Amat Lancers vs. St. Paul Swordsmen
The Bishop Amat Lancers will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the St. Paul Swordsmen at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Hopefully Bishop Amat is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. Paul in California (Bishop Amat is ranked 104th, while St. Paul is ranked 490th).
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Bishop Amat ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Bosco Tech 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Bishop Amat's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chris Blakely, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Eli Chavez was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Meanwhile, St. Paul was able to grind out a solid victory over Mountain View on Thursday, taking the game 51-44.
Bishop Amat has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for St. Paul, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Bishop Amat came up short against St. Paul in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 65-57. Can Bishop Amat avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
