Softball Recap: Whippany Park Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Whippany Park ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pequannock Golden Panthers 7-6. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Golden Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Kiera Swartz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing eight innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jaeden Antonelli was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Julia Beers was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The victory got Whippany Park back to even at 4-4. As for Pequannock, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, Whippany Park will challenge Parsippany at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pequannock, they will head out to challenge Montville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
