Shelby waltzed into their contest on Thursday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They enjoyed a cozy 55-41 victory over the River Valley Vikings. Given the Whippets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Vikings are ranked 457th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why River Valley lost, don't look at Megan Clausing. Despite the final result, she went 8 of 13 en route to 18 points and three steals. That's the most points Clausing has posted since back in December of 2023. Layla Auld also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Shelby's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for River Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Shelby has already played their next match, a 69-65 victory against Clear Fork on the 25th. As for River Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-37 win against Highland on the 25th.
