Basketball Recap: Curtis Baptist Takes a Loss

Curtis Baptist played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 66-23 loss at the hands of the Ragin Prep Christian Academy Rams. The Crusaders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-14.

Despite the defeat, Curtis Baptist saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brayden Husband almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine blocks. The Crusaders are 4-1 when Husband posts five or more blocks, but 2-6 otherwise.

Kavontay Rose continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ragin Prep Christian Academy, going 9-for-14 to rack up 19 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayshaun Rutherford, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Curtis Baptist now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Ragin Prep Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Curtis Baptist and Williamsburg Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ragin Prep Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 66-57 loss against Lakewood on the 13th.
