Basketball Recap: Gill St. Bernard's Falls Short Against Ranked Red Bank Catholic

On Sunday, Gill St. Bernard faced Red Bank Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Gill St. Bernard's Knights fell 52-41 to the Red Bank Catholic Caseys. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 51-37 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2018.

Red Bank Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addy Nyemchek led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Christina Liggio was another key player, going 5 of 11 en route to 12 points and three steals.

Gill St. Bernard's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Red Bank Catholic, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 19-4.

Gill St. Bernard's will take on Hunterdon Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Red Bank Catholic, they will host Holmdel at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
