Baseball Recap: Hermon Gets the Win

Hermon hadn't done well against Mount Desert Island recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Hawks came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 7-3. For the Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Maddox Kinney made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Edgar Leclerc was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cam Morrison, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Hermon now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Mount Desert Island, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hermon will take on Old Town at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hawks 2, the Coyotes 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Mount Desert Island, they will challenge Hampden at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
