Soccer Game Preview: Rudder vs. Lake Creek

Rudder hasn't had much luck against Lake Creek recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rudder Rangers will challenge the Lake Creek Lions at 7:30 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Last Friday, Rudder came up short against A&M Consolidated and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Tigers are ranked 68th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lake Creek duked it out withA&M Consolidated on Tuesday. Neither Lake Creek nor A&M Consolidated could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Lions' first draw of the season.

Their goal came courtesy of Landon Wallace, who's now up to six this season.

Lake Creek's draw gives them a new season record of 5-4-1. As for Rudder, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2-1.

Rudder came up short against Lake Creek in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Rudder avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
