Recap: Mansueto Leopards vs. Kelly Trojans

The Mansueto Leopards's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 53-26 loss at the hands of Kelly. While losing is never fun, Mansueto can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 579th, while Kelly is ranked 161st).

Leading Kelly to victory were Delilah Lopez and Natasha Soriano. Lopez dropped a double-double on 21 points and 10 rebounds, while Soriano dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 steals. Soriano is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Amy Lora was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 8 rebounds.

Mansueto's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-3. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.3 points per game. As for Kelly, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mansueto will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Noble Street College Prep at 5:30 p.m. on December 14th. As for Kelly, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Juarez at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
