Baseball Recap: Mojave Comes Up Short

Mojave extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They lost 22-1 to the North Stars. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly 21 runs.

As for North, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-17. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th (when they won 23-0).

For North's part, BRANDAN THOMASSON made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. THOMASSON has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, North got a massive performance out of TYLER DUNN, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, one triple, and one run. Those six RBI gave DUNN a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of RILEY STONEBRAKER, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mojave will venture away from home to square off against Lone Pine at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for North, they will head out to challenge South at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Stars surely won't give up without a fight.
