Softball Recap: Williamsburg Blue Pirates vs. Glendale Vikings

Williamsburg had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-14 to make it 15. They lost 16-0 to the Glendale Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-5 back in April.

As for Glendale, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-8. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For Glendale's part, Hannah Simmers made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Simmers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Ava Weld was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Elizabeth Kaufman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Williamsburg has already played their next game, an 18-0 loss against Curwensville on the 6th. As for Glendale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Central on the 2nd.
