Baseball Recap: Platte Valley Comes Up Short

Platte Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Sterling on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 10-5 to the Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Broncos of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Nick Silvas was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dagan Gomez, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Platte Valley's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Sterling, their record is now 9-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Platte Valley will face off against rival University at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sterling is set to square off against their familiar foe Weld Central at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
