AA District 16 recap Oct. 30, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Oakhaven, who took down 295th ranked Oakhaven, 14-8.
Sheffield extended the longest winning streak in AA District 16 this week by beating Fairley, 34-20. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Mitchell's dynamic duo of Tamadreus Trezevant and Derion Munn proved tough for Hillcrest to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Trezevant threw for 147 yards and one touchdown and Munn had 72 yards receiving. Dejuan Mcquarters helped Mitchell's passing attack out by catching three balls for 25 yards.
Dominque Smith was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 12 carries, he ran for 102 yards as the Bulldogs bested the Vikings. Teammate Deon Hailey added to the ground attack by rushing for 33 yards.
Mitchell's Trezevant and Mcquarters have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Trezevant has thrown for 1565 yards this season, while Mcquarters, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 33 catches for 672 yards. Smith from Fairley leads the league in rushing with 1183 yards.
Two of the top units in AA District 16 will face off this week when Rahnmann Slocum's team takes on Nathan Cole's team. The Bulldogs' offense has scored 300 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Tigers have allowed only 102 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mitchell takes on Fairley. The Tigers are currently in first, while the Bulldogs are in third.
Carver and the Hawks played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Carver eventually emerging with a 14-8 victory.
