Basketball Game Preview: Bunn Wildcats vs. Southern Nash Firebirds

The Bunn Wildcats will face off against the Southern Nash Firebirds at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Bunn will be strutting in after a victory while Southern Nash will be coming in after a loss.

Southern Nash is hoping to do what Vance County couldn't on Monday: put an end to Bunn's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Bunn managed a 36-30 win over Vance County. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Vipers are ranked 101st).

Bunn got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Makayla Richardson out in front who posted 17 points. The matchup was Richardson's third in a row with at least ten points. Ny'Lah Mitchell was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Southern Nash had to suffer through a 82-47 loss at the hands of Fike. The defeat continues a trend for the Firebirds in their matchups with the Demons: they've now lost nine in a row.

Southern Nash now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Bunn, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Bunn might still be hurting after the 43-19 loss they got from Southern Nash when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Bunn avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
