Basketball Game Preview: Manvel Mavericks vs. Pearland Oilers

Manvel and Pearland are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Manvel Mavericks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pearland Oilers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Manvel is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 3, 2024 on Friday. They lost 75-50 to Shadow Creek. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while the Sharks are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, Pearland waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Yellowjackets 52-22. The Oilers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Pearland is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Manvel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-11.
